Crochet, Miniature Schnauzer Rescue, Life, Gardening, & More!

Why "Sheila Sparkles?"

Hi and welcome! I'm Sheila and this is my official hangout on the 'net. I'm a crochet designer, Miniature Schnauzer rescuer, gardener and writer; mom, wife and friend. I also dabble in jewelry design because I love sparkly things!! That is why this site is named Sheila Sparkles - because I believe everything in life should have a bit of sparkle added to make it fun and interesting! And everything I make seems to have a bit of bling added too... so why not. You will find here several separate sections to explore... the Patterns section takes you to my original crochet design patterns for free and for sale. The Crochet section will contain info on what I'm currently working on, and my random thoughts on crochet.  So stop in often - things will be changing often for awhile as I get this site built! If you have any suggestions please email me at sheilaschnauzies@gmail.com. Have a sparkly day!

Recently Off My Hook

Recently finished a doily design which was a gift for my Fairy Goddaughter, Laurie. She is a "purple girl" and loves "bling," so it had to incorporate both! I sewed on lots of tiny crystals by hand.

Recently  finished a crocheted purse for my fairy grand-goddaughter! Fun colors, lime green, black and metallic silver! Also off my hook, a crutch bag/purse designed for my friend Sally who has to get around with a crutch. It's hard to carry things with one hand and I designed the bag with a removable handle so she could snap it right onto her crutch handle. It's working out great for her! So much in fact that I decided I need a little similar bag (shown below) for the walker I am currently using.

OK, here it is:

The "Great Scarf Project...."
I spent weeks in December/January making one of these scarves in many color combinations as gifts after designing this scarf to keep ME warm! I went out and got the most luxurious, indulgent and most importantly soft yarns I could find.  I would go into the store and just start picking up yarns I thought would look interesting together in a particular color theme.  Now, question is, what to do with all those leftover skeins in about a zillion colors... who knows what will come of those!

Columbines!
The balmy late spring weather made me want to design another flower... or two... here are the latest.  Still making more in other colors.  These two patterns are available right now for just $4.99 ! It's a fundraiser for my Miniature Schnauzer Rescue's Vet Fund. 100% of proceeds benefit the fund.

Adding Fun

Here it is February 1 already, and we have had virtually no winter here in Omaha! A few cold days, a smattering of snow here and there, but it's mostly been unseasonably warm and very dry. Weird!  Of course the days are still too short and cabin fever has a firm hold on everyone! I'm about ready to start some seeds indoors and get a head start on Spring!

I've been crocheting like crazy, making all sorts of gifts for Christmas. I just finished a doily designed for my best friend Sally, and right now I have a Valentine design on my hook.

It's been 3-1/2 months since my last hip replacement, and I'm getting around pretty well most days! Like everyone else it seems, I'm trying to watch my diet a little closer.

In doggie news, sadly we lost our Koby on January 25. He died from complications of diabetes and will be greatly missed.

Whatever Else Is New...

Well, I have figured out that the easiest way to keep this section updated is to connect you to my blog here! So... here you go! Sheila's Blog http://sheilasparkles.blogspot.com
